2009 has been fruitful
Spring Day on June 13 - Champeau and Bernardieres Castle
-
•In the morning a walk including the visit of a cave in a cliff.
-
•At lunch time usual picnic on the car park of Champeau village hall, the mayor being kind enough to let us have the use of benches, tables, and toilet. A letter of thanks has been sent.
-
•In the afternoon a visit of Bernardiere Castle where we could enjoy the many passionate explanations given by the owners. A file on different Middle-Ages recipes will be made.
-
•In the evening we gathered at Vieux Mareuil café for a drink offered by the association. We want to offer our special thanks to Jean-Louis Chamouleau who organized the day.
Fondesirade ancient outdoor washing place
On July 8 a team of volunteers gathered to clean the place which was once again overgrown. Many thanks to those volunteers.
Lacoufourche ancient outdoor washing place
On August 12 about the same team of volunteers worked in Lacoufourehe to get rid of the brambles, but there is still some work to do.
European Days of Cultural Heritage (Patrimoine) on September 19 and 20
In the evening of September I9 a concert was given in our church by Amaryllis choir. We were a little disappointed by a smaller than expected audience - this might be due to both last year cancelling or a lack of communication. However 52 people payed for their ticket, mostly people from our village.
An exhibition of works by local artists in the village hall. It was their exhibition but it was organized by our association. Our special thanks to Regine and Guy for decoration and presentation. This exhibition showed quality and variety and was most appreciated by all who visited. Once more I want to thank our local artists.
A visit of the cave known as «le Roc du Rap» - 52 visitors were able to to enjoy the floodlighting and the thorough explanations. Most of them had never seen the place in such good condition. It was my pleasure to organize those visits.
Other works
As you have been able to hear, the belfry in our church has been repaired, and the peal of our bells is back. I have been able to follow the work thanks to the architect M.Vigoureux. I have made a set of photos and will present you with a slide-show in the evening of the official inauguration.
Another point which is close to my heart the painting «St John in front of the Latin Gate». This painting was taken down by a team of vohmteers at the end of July to be restored. A few members of oar association have been able to see the beginning of the process of restoration and I can assure you that we will have a beautiful XVIIth century painting.
Season greetings to you all
